Cathy Knoll, MA, MT-BC, lives and works in Stephenville, TX where she has contracted direct and consultative music therapy services to public school education programs, group homes, and individuals since 1978. Because of the rural setting, her practice focuses on music therapy for groups and individuals with diverse disabilities, particularly people challenged with autism, developmental disabilities, behavior disorders, physical impairments, and learning disabilities. She has also worked with a program for older adults with developmental disabilities who are integrated into a more typical residential care center for older people. Many of these clients are challenged with Alzheimer's and other dementias as well as with developmental disabilities. Now that her children grown and embarked on their own careers far from home, Cathy is serving a growing number of clients in her home-based music therapy studio. She also coordinates a ministry at her church for people of all ages who are typically isolated from a faith community because of significant social and behavior issues. Check it out at SpecialJoy.org Cathy and her son, Dwight, have launched a daily podcast / website that responds to questions and issues submitted by parents, teachers, therapists, medical professionals, and individuals with autism. Click on FAQautism.com for details.

Procedure. In the professional self-study course format, you complete each chapter, targeting a specific skill or concept at your own pace by listening to an audio discussion, making notes on a chapter outline, then selecting written assignments that most specifically address your job situation and specific professional skills you need to sharpen. There is no time limit for submitting paperwork in application for CMTE credits. You can take the course now and apply for credits later if you are not in need of credits now.
Applying for CMTE credit. You will submit (1) the required written assignments, (2) the required CMTE Evaluation form, and (3) a check for your CMTE fee to Music Works Publications. You do NOT need to submit the notes you took on the chapter outline unless specified as an assignment for that course. Submit just the required written assignments, the required two-page course evaluation, and the CMTE fee. You must keep a copy of your packet in the event it is lost in the mail. You will mail the CMTE packet to Dellinda Henry 9471 Brushy Point, San Antonio TX 78250. Please contact Cathy Knoll CathyKnoll@MusicWorksPublications.com with any questions If you do not have e-mail access, please leave a message for Cathy at 254-968-2882, speaking your name and phone number slowly and clearly to accommodate Cathy's hearing loss.
Awarding CMTE Credits. Your CMTE credits will be awarded in the same month as the postmark of the assignment packet. As soon as you mail the assignments and the required evaluation form, you may list the pre-approved CMTE credits on your CMTE reporting form and submit them to CBMT. You will not receive a hard copy of the certificate of CMTE credit from Music Works Publications for 4 to 6 weeks following the postmark, but your CMTE credits are awarded during the same month as the postmark. So, for example, if your packet is postmarked on June 15, you can list the CMTE credits for that course on your CMTE reporting form as being awarded on June 15. Likewise, you must postmark the assignment packet by December 31 for the credits to be awarded in December. Holidays that fall on the last day of the month do not delay the required postmark. So, for example, if December 31 falls on a Sunday and you need CMTE credit for that calendar year, you must mail and postmark your assignments by December 29 or December 30. We are not allowed any flexibility on CMTE deadlines. Credits will be awarded in whatever month the packet is postmarked.
